Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
Our tour guide will come to your Arusha lodging and drive you to Lake Manyara National Park. You will check into your lodge upon arrival in Lake Manyara National Park, have lunch, relax for a bit and then depart for an afternoon game drive. Nestled at the foot of the Great East African Rift Valley’s western escarpment, Lake Manyara National Park is home to a large, shallow soda lake that takes up two thirds of the park. The park is home to a wide variety of animal species, including rare tree-climbing lions, one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, and massive flocks of flamingos attracted by the lake’s algae.
Accommodation: Lake Manyara Serena Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park – Serengeti Plains.
After breakfast, you will pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the stunning high-lying farmlands of Karatu on your way to the Serengeti National Park. The mountains are behind us as we descend into the Serengeti National Park, sometimes referred to as the “heart of wild Africa.” The plains of the Serengeti extend infinitely into the distance. Located in the centre of the park, in the Seronera area, are some of the most plentiful wildlife habitats. It is unique in that the Seronera River serves as a vital source of water for the area and attracts a wide variety of wildlife that fairly represents the majority of the Serengeti’s species. You will arrive in Serengeti National Park in time for lunch, after which you will head out for an afternoon game drive in the park.
Accommodation: Mbalageti Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 3: Full Day at the Serengeti Plains.
After your early breakfast, we will take you on a morning game drive around the Sogore River Circuit. Along this circuit, which runs across the plains south of the Seronera River, you can spot a variety of animals, including ostriches, Thomson gazelles, lions, and cheetahs. After your game drive, you will proceed to the Visitor Centre, which is close to the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and free campsites. In addition to a number of unique animal exhibits, the centre offers brochures and maps of the area for sale in its gift store. We’ll have lunch there because the store also sells drinks.
Later In the afternoon, we will have a drive around the Kopjes Circuit, which goes around the Maasai Kopjes in an anticlockwise direction and is well known for harbouring a large number of lions and several big cobras. There are kopjes, or worn granite outcrops, all over the plains. Most of these outcrops are little ecosystems that provide drinking water in pools that the rain and shade have left in the rock. In the Kopjes, lions can have good hunting conditions, especially in the dry seasons when most animals come to graze.
Accommodation: Mbalageti Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 4: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater.
After an early breakfast, you will leave the lodge for the Ngorongoro Conservation area. Olduvai Gorge, which has a long history that goes back to the dawn of time, will be the destination of your upcoming journey. Here were discovered the skulls of the early men, called “Handy Man” and “Nutcracker Man,” by the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey. We will spend the rest of the day hiking over 550 meters into the Ngorongoro crater to watch wildlife. You will arrive at the resort in time for lunch. Ngorongoro National Park is home to massive African elephants, lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and leopards, as well as herds of wildebeest, eland, warthog, zebra, buffalo, and hippo. A yearly supply of food and water also helps to maintain the park. Next, we’ll go to Lake Magadi, which is one of the crater’s primary attractions. It’s a big, shallow alkaline lake in the southwest. This is typically home to a large population of aquatic birds, including hippos and flamingos.
Accommodation: Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 5: Full Day at Ngorongoro Crater.
After breakfast, you continue your full-day game drive and descend 550 meters into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater. About 30,000 animals, including some of the few remaining Tanzanian black rhinos, call the Ngorongoro Crater home. It is one of the few locations in Africa with such a high concentration of species. The primary attraction for a variety of species is the crater’s year-round supply of food and water. The park is home to a variety of animals, including warthogs, hippopotamuses, gigantic African elephants, buffalo, eland, and herds of wildebeest. Another big draw of this magnificent national park is its vast population of predators, which includes cheetahs, lions, hyenas, jackals, and the elusive leopard. We are planning a picnic at the base of the crater.
Accommodation: Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 6: Transfer to Tarangire National Park.
After breakfast, you will make your way to Tarangire National Park. The park stretches along the banks of the River Tarangire and is mainly composed of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley bottom. The park’s natural environment is mostly composed of massive Baobab trees and Acacia woods, with large marsh areas located in the southern sections. The river and the wetlands attract wildlife, especially in Tanzania during the dry season. Without a doubt, the park is home to among of Africa’s largest elephant herds. A few rare species can also be found in Tarangire, such as the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and a few Ashy Starlings. After your morning game drive and a picnic lunch, you will continue on an afternoon game drive. You’ll retire to your lodge later in the evening to relax and have a nap.
Accommodation: Tarangire Sopa Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 7: Return to Arusha – Departure.
You’ll need to get up early for an early morning wildlife drive in Tarangire National Park. You will return to the resort to complete your packing and check out after breakfast. We will then head back to Arusha.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch).
