Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.

You will be picked up at the Entebbe International Airport or your hotel at the start of your trip. Following an overview of the 8 Days Wildlife Safari Tour in Uganda, you will be greeted by our knowledgeable driving guide from Paradise Adventure Vacations. After that, you’ll start the 4-hour trip to Lake Mburo National Park, where lunch will be served. You will embark on a night time wildlife drive with an armed park ranger and spotlight torches to assist you spot nocturnal animals including jackals, serval cats, hyenas, hares, porcupines, honey badgers, and white-tailed mongooses after spending the afternoon at the lodge.

Day 2: Nature Walk or Horse Riding – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Your day begins with breakfast in the early morning. Next, you will embark on a 2 to 3 hour nature walk or horseback ride through the park, which will take you off of the main paths and deep into the bush trails where you can enjoy the park and see herds of zebras, giraffes, Elands, impalas, buffalos, Defassa waterbuck, oribis, leopard, hippo, hyena, topis, and reedbuck, among other species.

After this unforgettable adventure, you will travel six to seven hours by car from Lake Mburo National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will travel through southwest Uganda’s undulating hills and verdant farmland during the drive. Situated in the Kanungu district of South Western Uganda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is renowned for providing the ultimate gorilla experience. You will stop for lunch in Kabale town en route to your destination, after which you will continue on to the park for supper and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – Batwa Community Visit.

Get up early, eat breakfast, and head to the park headquarters to receive instructions on what to do and what not to do while you are with the mountain gorillas. You will also be paired with a park ranger who will help you on your trek and a gorilla family to watch out for. After that, you will begin your hunt for the mountain gorillas, which could take anywhere from one to five hours, depending on where they are.

A variety of primate species, including black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, grey mangabeys, and blue monkeys, as well as bird species, including Shelley’s crimson, purple sunbird, red-headed blue bill, regal sunbird, breasted sunbird, African blue cuckoo, Rwenzori turaco, and handsome francolin, will be encountered during your trek. You will only be able to spend an hour with the gorillas after you locate them, during which time you will be able to learn about their habits, including how they feed and care for their young and communicate. You are welcome to enquire about these gorillas as much as you like and take special photos before heading back to your lodging for lunch.

You will later visit the Batwa community, who were the first people to live in the ancient Impenetrable Forest before it was declared a National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. There, you will learn about their social ways of life and how they hunted for food in the past. You will also visit a Batwa homestead to witness how they dance and hear folk tales and ancient legends. After dinner, you will spend the night back at your accommodations.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Afternoon Boat Cruise.

After breakfast, travel for approximately five hours to reach Queen Elizabeth National Park from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After arriving, you will check into your accommodation for a filling lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will go on a rejuvenating boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where you can take in breathtaking views of the park and see animals like elephants swimming and drinking water, herds of hippos swimming in the water and Nile crocodiles relaxing on the banks of the channel.

For those who enjoy watching birds, keep an eye out for a variety of species, including the African fish eagle, the rare saddle-billed stork, the yellow-billed stork, the African skimmer, the Nubian woodpecker, the swamp flycatcher, the grey-capped warbler, the little bee eater, and the swamp nightjar. After enjoying some refreshments and unwinding for five to ten minutes, go on an evening game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. You’ll be in awe of the stunning sunset there, and you should keep an eye out for animals like lions, hippos, topis, buffaloes, elephants, and, with luck, leopards. You will then head back to your lodging for the evening and the night.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive – Evening Crater Lake Exploration.

After a hearty breakfast to start the day, you will venture into the jungle in search of the many mammal species that call Queen Elizabeth National Park home, including cape buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, hippos, bush pigs, sitatungas, topis, and bushbucks. You will later drive through the craters in Queen Elizabeth National Park for a 27-kilometer evening Crater Lake exploration at Lake Katwe Explosion Craters. Along the way, you may see animals like termites, snakes, Uganda kobs, chimpanzees, lone male buffaloes and elephants, water bucks, sitatunga antelopes, and flamingos at Lake Munyanyange. After arriving, you will view Uganda’s top salt distributor and see how salt is made. During the journey, you will also see the escarpments and the western arm of the Great East African Rift Valley. After supper, you will spend the night there.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park – Bigodi Wetland Visit.

After a hearty breakfast, you will travel to Kibale National Park, which is roughly three hours away from Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive will provide you with breathtaking views of Uganda’s landscape as you pass through the park’s lush forest. After that, you’ll check into your lodging for lunch and later After that, you’ll head to the Bigodi wetland in the park for a swamp walk in the evening. While there, you’ll see a variety of butterflies and birds, including the Brown-crowned Tchagra, Black & White Shrike-flycatcher, Superb Sunbird, White-breasted Negrofinch, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Black Bishop, Hairy-breasted Barbet, and Yellow-billed Barbet. After taking a stroll through the community and sampling several gins made from bananas, crafts, and coffee processing, you will head back to your lodging for dinner and the night.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale.

Get up early, have a hearty and delectable breakfast to start your seventh day of the eight-day Uganda Safari Primates, and get ready for the well-known chimpanzee trekking experience. To protect yourself from the tree branches and in case of severe weather, wear proper gear for the exercise, such as a long sleeved shirt, a pair of karky or jean trousers, water resistant boots, a round cap and a thick jumper. It may take anywhere from one to five hours to locate these chimpanzees, so pack some snacks and water in your backpack to help you stay hydrated during the hike. Proceed to the Kanyachu Visitor Centre where you will receive instructions on the Dos and Don’ts within the park. You will also be paired with a group of chimpanzees to watch out for and a park ranger to assist you on your trek.

A variety of animal species, including black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, olive baboons, L’Hoest’s monkeys, red colobuses, and mantled guereza, will be encountered on the trek. Additionally, hornbills, flycatchers, black billed turacos, kingfishers, cuckoos, purple-breasted sunbirds, crowned eagles, black capped waxbills, and black collard apalis will be among the numerous bird species encountered. You will get an hour to spend with the chimpanzees after you locate them to observe their behaviours, social interactions, and communication styles, among other things. After lunch, you will head back to your lodging to unwind and take in Kibale’s breathtaking bird noises for the remainder of the day.

Day 8: Return to Kampala – Departure.

On the last day of your eight-day Uganda Primate Safari, you will wake up and drive for approximately six hours to either your hotel or Entebbe International Airport. Along the way, you will see beautiful views of Uganda’s rolling hills, which will leave you with unforgettable memories. After that, you will continue your journey to Kampala, where you will enjoy a delectable lunch.
