Kibale Forest National Park, one of Africa’s best rainforests, is located in Western Uganda and is about 795 km by road from Kampala, the capital of Uganda, and is the destination of the 3-day chimpanzee trekking safari in Uganda. There are about 13 different primates in this park, including chimpanzees, whose DNA is similar to that of humans. There are also about 375 different species of birds and 70 different kinds of mammals. The Bigodi wetland tour and chimpanzee trekking in the forest will be the main activities.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After giving you a quick orientation regarding the safari, your tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation or hotel on this day of early morning breakfast. From there, you will drive to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. After lunch, make a stop at Fort Portal and then proceed to the tea plantations or the Toro crater lakes. Proceed to the park and make your reservation at the preferred lodge. That evening, you could choose to go on a nature walk in the forest, where you can observe various wildlife species. After dinner, spend the night getting ready for the next day’s chimpanzee trekking.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking – Bigodi Wetland

Following breakfast in the morning, your driver will bring you to the park information centre, where you and other visitors will receive an instruction on what to do and what not to do when chimpanzee trekking. After that, you’ll embark on an amazing journey to find the chimpanzees in the wild. Depending on where the chimps are, trekking could take two to six hours.

While you travel through the forest to visit the chimpanzees, you may also see a variety of birds, monkeys, including the grey-cheeked Mangabey, black-and-white Colobus, and golden monkeys, and trees of different sorts. Following this incredible experience with the chimpanzees, return to the lodge for lunch. After that, your guide or driver will take you on a swamp walk through the Bigodi Wetland, where you can still see a variety of primates, including red-tailed monkeys, baboons, bush pigs, LHoest monkeys, otters, and other species, as well as birds, including great blue turucos. Along with the school-age youngsters living in that hamlet, you will also run into some elderly residents.

You would ultimately have had a fantastic African experience since you will have witnessed how these people live and go about their daily lives, among other things. Return to the lodge, have dinner, and spend the night there.

Day 3: Return to Kampala – Departure

Enjoy your final meal at the resort as your incredible three-day safari comes to a conclusion. Start your drive back to Kampala with a packed lunch from the resort after breakfast. It will be evening when you arrive in Kampala. Proceed to the airport for your late evening flight back home.

The safari includes;

  • 1 Chimpanzee Trekking Permit per person.
  • Ground Transportation.
  • Accommodation on Full board basis.

However, the tour excludes; International flights, Visas, Accommodation fees for hotel in Kampala, souvenirs, laundry services, crafts, drinks/beverages, and tips to local guides.
