Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1:  Arrival – Bujumbura

You will be met at the Bujumbura International Airport by a Verdant Safaris representative, who will then drive you to your hotel. You have the rest of the day to relax and prepare for the next cultural event.

Day 2: Bujumbura City Tour

After breakfast, you’ll begin your cultural tour of Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi. You will witness the Livingstone-Stanley Monument, which honours the site of the famous explorers’ meeting in 1871, as well as the Snake and Culture Museum, which showcases traditional music and dances from Burundi. You will also explore Burundi’s artistic and handicraft heritage while shopping for trinkets at the local marketplaces and stores.

Day 3: Explore Lake Tanganyika

You can spend all day exploring the stunning beauty of Lake Tanganyika, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. You’ll visit the fishing villages and take a boat tour of the nearby islands. You can also swim in the lake’s crystal-clear waters and relax on the beaches.

Day 4: Departure

After breakfast, you’ll head to Gitega, the cultural hub of Burundi, to visit the National Museum of Gitega, which showcases the history and culture of the nation. You will also visit the Gishora Drum Sanctuary to experience traditional drumming and dancing from Burundi. After that, you’ll be driven back to Bujumbura and dropped off in preparation for your departure. This concludes your four days of immersion in Burundi culture.
